BJJ - Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (Gracie Lineage)
Schedule: Monday -Thursday 8:00pm - 9:00pm
Holds, Escapes, & Submissions
Looking to strengthen your ground game? Nobody ever plans on going to the ground in a fight, but if it happens (and most will) its good to know what to do when you’re down there!
You’ll gain confidence & discipline as you learn to effortlessly hold down an opponent, escaped from positions, get back up to your feet, or submit them with joint locks and chokes. Safety is a priority in this class (as is all others), and students are to encouraged progress at their own rate.
Our focus is primarily self defense based, not competition or tournaments, although we support any students who wish to compete.
KSK's Jiu-Jitsu Lineage
We are very fortunate at KSK Martial Arts to be under the guidance of Professor Chet Schemahorn for Jiu-Jitsu. He is a 4th degree Black Belt and certified Full Instructor under the Gracie family (founders and pioneers of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu / Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu).
Professor Schemahorn was the very first Non-Brazilian to earn his Black Belt from the Gracie Family as an affiliate student (not living in California), and is currently the only affiliate instructor under Gracie’s allowed to promote his own students to the level of Black Belt as well. He owns & operates a school in Fort Wayne, IN. and travels the US teaching seminars.
Guro T. Kent Nelson has been studying with him since 2010. Along with monthly traveling to Professor Schemahorn school in Indiana, Guro Kent also brings him in to teach seminars at the KSK headquarters in Lansing, MI. 3 times a year. He was promoted to Black Belt by Professor Chet on May 3, 2026.
